Description

A rustic and easy 2 ingredient artisan yogurt bread with a golden crisp crust and soft airy crumb, made without yeast and perfect for serving warm with butter or olive oil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1.5 cups plain Greek yogurt, thick and full fat preferred


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the self rising flour and plain Greek yogurt.
  3. Stir with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  5. Gently knead for 1 to 2 minutes until the dough comes together smoothly. Do not overknead.
  6. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Lightly dust the top with flour and score gently with a sharp knife.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the crust is golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Allow the bread to cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  10. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • If the dough feels too sticky, add a light dusting of flour while shaping.
  • Let the bread cool before slicing to prevent a gummy texture.
  • For a shinier crust, brush lightly with olive oil before baking.
